BlackBerry maker, Research in Motion (RIM) said they have set up industry forum to resolve security issues in India. RIM offers a solution by making the industry a forum to address security issues in which India threatened to terminate the RIM operating in that country.
Minister of Home Affairs of India has warned would turn off the BlackBerry service, if RIM does not give the agency access to corporate email and messaging services, before 31 August. RIM said, "This is an extension of our offer" to the government of India in which RIM will lead the industry forum to solve this security problem.
"This bid focuses on the support of legal institutions in which access will provide formal information security needs of corporations and other organizations in India," RIM said. "The forum will cooperate with the government of India and focuses on development and policy recommendations aimed at preventing abuse of process technology in which ekskripsi will provide many benefits for India," he said.
Minister of Home Affairs of India, G.K. Pillai will make a final decision on the fate of the BlackBerry on Monday before the deadline, August 31, Interior Ministry officials said this weekend. "We Hope satisfactory resolution," the official said, as quoted from Yahoo.
Interior Ministry officials have held discussions with RIM's technical representative and phone companies to overcome this impasse. India worried about the BlackBerry service can be used by the militants in which they are currently fighting the rebels Kashmir.
Islamic militants use the phones to coordinate attacks in Mumbai in 2008 which killed 166 people. Termination would affect 1.1 million BlackBerry customers.
