In front of 57,000, Michael Waltrip and his No. 15 NASCAR Race View/Wounded Warrior Project Toyota won the 12th Annual NextEra Energy Resources 250. With the result Waltrip claimed his first victory in nine NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races. Waltrip also became the 22nd driver to win a race in all three of NASCAR's national series.
It was also as interesting day to do it as today is the 10-year anniversary of Michael Waltrip's victory in the 2001 Daytona 500.
Finishing second was Elliott Sadler and his No. 2 OneMain Financial Chevrolet who posted his first top-10 finish in two races at Daytona International Speedway.
Running third was Clay Rogers and his No. 92 Action Gator Tire/Fleet HQ Chevrolet. Rogers posted his second career top-five finish, and is now the series points leader since Sadler and Waltrip were ineligable to series points.
Miguel Paludo and his No. 7 Stemco Duroline Toyota was the highest finishing rookie, he finished fourth. While Kyle Busch and his No. 18 Dollar General Toyota rounded out the top-five.
Jennifer Jo Cobb finished sixth which set a new mark for achievement by the NASCAR female drivers at Daytona International Speedway. IndyCar driver Danica Patrick will start fourth in the NASCAR Nationwide event this evening, and will be the final chance this weekend to re-set the mark.
