BMW Motorrad R1200GS Special Edition

BMW Motorrad has launched a Special Edition version of the R1200GS, to celebrate the 15th year of the four-valve GS boxer twin.

Priced at £11,400 or US$18,140, the BMW Motorrad R1200GS Special Edition will be delivered to customers starting July 2009.

The best-selling motorcycle in UK, the BMW Motorrad R1200GS Special Edition will come in Alpine White.

The motorcycle will have a dual-color seat, a pointy black front, black cross spoke wheels, protective aluminium head covers and a tinted screen.

The BMW Motorrad R1200GS Special Edition promises to save customers more than £1,100, with the addition of free panniers – an offer that is also vadid for all purchases of the BMW Motorrad R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure models till September 30, 2009 - and factory-fitted Dynamic and Premium specification packages.

The Dynamic package includes anti-lock brakes (ABS), Automatic Stability Control (ASC), and Tyre Pressure Control.

The Premium package offers Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA II), heated handlebar grips, an on-board computer, chrome exhaust pipes, and LED indicators as standard.

The ESA features, which is optional in the standard BMW Motorrad 1200GS, allows rider to adjust the suspension of the bike according to load or terrain at the press of a button on the handlebar controls.

The BMW Motorrad R1200GS delivers 105 hp @ 7500 rpm and provides 115 Nm torque @ 5750 rpm. It is L2210 mm (87 in) in length, 935 mm (36.8 in) in width, and 1450 mm (57.1 in) in height.

The motorcycle, that weighs 203 kg (448 lb), has a seat height of 850 mm (33.5 in), and a 1507 mm (59.3 in) wheelbase.

The BMW Motorrad R1200GS was the best selling motorcycle in the UK, in 2007 and 2008.
