Biaggi Makes MotoGP Prediction; Lorenzo Favorite, But Beware of Stoner - Motorcycle News - AllAboutBikes.com

wsb_BiaggiMax Biaggi is getting ready for another run at the World Superbike championship, but he knows that the MotoGP will have one of the most exciting seasons in 2011. Jorge Lorenzo will be returning to defend his title, Valentino Rossi will be on a new motorcycle, and Casey Stoner has made the transition from Ducati to Honda flawlessly. The 2011 MotoGP season will see a lot of riders on new bikes, and they will all be gunning for Lorenzo.

Biaggi is putting his money on the returning champ, but says that the MotoGP riders shouldn't count out Stoner.

"Lorenzo had an outstanding season and did a great job - it was really good. I am convinced that he will be the man to beat again next year. But beware Stoner,” Biaggi said.

Biaggi spent 8 seasons in the MotoGP, but hasn't raced in the premier class since 2005. During his time in the MotoGP the 2010 WSBK champ and Valentino Rossi formed a bit of a rivalry. Rossi wasn't even mentioned in Biaggi's prediction, but the Roman Emperor has always been a little biased against his Italian foe.

As far as the World Superbike goes, Carlos Checa has come out to say that Max Biaggi is the man to beat in 2011. Checa is confident that he'll be able to compete with the front runners, but knows that he'll have challenges from Marco Melandri, Jonathan Rea, and Eugene Laverty.
